I just love the Chlorine Generator in my pool and decided to develop one for my Spa in 2005 and have really taken it for granted that I can leave my Spa alone for weeks on end and not even have to worry at all when I get back if it will be OK to use. The ColorChlor with the light shows has been very neat to add life back to my CalSpa (around 1998) with just a plain light with different lens covers. The temperature readout of the ColorChlor is also handy as my Spa temperature gauge doesn’t work and the floating temperature gauges don’t seem to last long in a Spa.
This Chlorine generator really does work well. The water is always clear. I travel a lot and don’t have to worry about coming home to cloudy water that has to be shocked back to life. Also, the Ph seems to be more stable than with Diclor or the bleach method of sanitation. The salt also prevents some of the drying effect of hot water on your skin. Think of it as the security of a bromine floater without the supposed carcinogens /smell associated with bromine with the added benefit of a much more stable Ph.

It works great. Thank you. It was always so frustrating to keep handling all the chemicals and adding chlorine all the time. Now all I do is use my test strips, set it and forget it. I don’t spend so much time on mainetenance anymore. Great product!!!!
This is a terrific product. As a spa owner for 14 years (two different hot tubs) I’ve used Ozone Generator, chemicals and other filtration solutions to simplify hot tub maintenance and reduce chem use and costs. This product is the read deal. I’ve been using Dead Sea Salts (bokek) with this product and it works great!
I never have an issue with checking levels or getting too much chemical or odors. Better still, the feeling after using the spa is amazing. Never have that “hot tub itch” and dry skin associated with bromine. Whether I’m home or away, this product is doing its job…and I use my spa A LOT!
Better still, they stand behind their products. When I have had performance issues or questions, they have always taken care me immediately, and have provided me with updated improvements to their products as they became available. The price might make some hesitate, but if you’ve owned and maintained a spa before, you know how often you’re running out spending $$$ on this chemical or that. Salt is cheap! Even the rarest fine Spa Quality sea salts…by comparison. And the time savings, alone, and hassle-free solution makes it worth every penny!!!
I purchased your ColorChlor chlorinator unit 1 month ago and want to share the results of my experience. Based on my experience so far:
•ColorChlor effectively maintains my spa in clear-water condition without any burdensome addition of sanitizers. No longer do I worry about the condition of my spa between uses because the product maintains a sufficient level of chlorine (hypochlorous acid) so my spa is ready when I am.
•I feel confident in ColorChlor because it continually generates chlorine over time, so free chlorine is always present, but levels stay low and stable. This maximizes sanitation and minimizes the risk of corrosion, present with any sanitizing system in spas.
•The one-time setup and ongoing use is simple: 8 pounds of salt one time from my local store (~$4) and plug-in ColorChlor to a standard outlet (weather protected). This took less than 1 hour. Now using it is as simple as Drop-and-Go!
Previously, I used chlorinating granules which required frequent and continual addition, whether I used my spa or not. I never minded adding this to my spa when I used it, but to have to add it when not using the spa felt like I was babysitting it. Plus, when I took trips for as little as a week, I had to take time to drain the spa or risk returning to a skunked, murky spa – yuck! Now, when I leave, I can trust ColorChlor to maintain my spa so its clear and clean when I return.
True, I still have to maintain pH and check the filter, but those change little when my spa is not in use. And for large parties (like my Memorial Day bash with 12 guests in/out of the spa all day), I need supplemental chlor (bleach) to offset extreme amounts of organic material. But since I am at the spa anyway – adding a cup of chlor occasionally is not inconvenient. It’s remembering to constantly add sanitizer that’s inconvenient – which I no longer need to do with ColorChlor.
And I should cut my water replacement frequency at least by half every year, because using ColorChlor does not accumulate compounds (stabilizers/cyanuric acid) found in sanitation tablets/granules that eventually lead to spa water that must be replaced because it cannot be cleared. Technically, my spa water should now be like my pool – and I never have had to change that water (6 years+).
As one of the first ColorChlor customers, we have been using our ColorChlor chlorine generator in our hot tub for years. We can honestly say this product has vastly improved our hot tub. There is no need to purchase chemical chlorine or bromine. The ColorChlor electronically creates chlorine from sodium chloride (salt) NaCl which is very inexpensive. Not much salt is needed to maximize performance. The salt in the water is hardly noticable but it actually makes your skin feel smoother after using the hot tub. There is no chlorine smell at all. You can actually help the environment by not using chemical chlorine! The ColorChlor provides the correct amout of chlorine even when you are away on vacation! The company representatives at ControlOMatic have always been most helpful with any questions we have had through the years. We recommend this product and this company!
Great product just put in the salt and you are good to go. I have had off for days at a time and see the spa start to look dirty and immediately as quickly as overnight the spa looks as if fresh water has been put in. Great device. Super easy to manage and much less expensive and better on your skin than the chemicals typically needed to maintain.
Good product and GREAT service. We love having it in our Spa, the water is softer, crystal clear, and always smells fresh, even if we don’t open it for a week or two.
Wish the power cord was twice as long.. After 24hrs my 450 gal spa didn’t register any chlorine,, I added a bit of chlorine from a tip on another web site and has been great every since… Lately the standby mode seems to be on allot but the chlorine level stays good… My wife misses the smell of chlorine!
Not sure why they would supply a quart of CV700 with only 6 lbs (enough for a 400 gal spa) of salt combo. The instructions on the CV700 bottle talk about thousands of gallons, so I figure only about 1 cap for my spa.. Lets see how many caps in a quart ?, too much for me!

I love this device and especially the company behind it. I really can’t recommend it enough… if you have a hot tub, you must have a colorchlor… and the team behind it has a clear commitment to customer service.

#1 – I truly can’t tell you how much I love your product! It’s fantastic! Mind you… my Monster-in-law refuses to believe how great it is, and won’t even talk to us anymore about hot tubs because she thinks that the chemicals are the way to go. Her loss! At least someone will keep the Chem companies working.
#2 – I have a few friends interested in the product. I am going to forward your site to them… that being said, I’m not able to find the HP Colorchlor on your website anymore. Are you still selling it? Or just the standard smaller one now??

Really… I go on and on and on to everyone about your product! I have quite a few people interested it in! Thanks so much for creating SUCH a well engineered product. Only thing I would change on it would to have a small display on it to tell you what power level you’re at, or what the temperature is… my husband is lost as to what all the lights mean.
