Thanks for a great product. I have told my pool supply store about it and will keep them apprised of how pleased I am. They were surprised that I am able to use a Chlorinator for a Hot Tub. Their comment was that they had not seen anything on the market that produced Chlorine in small enough amounts that would work for a spa.
I am pleased with how easy it was to set up and how stable it seems to be. I am using NaCl, which is much better from the perspective of cost and overall performance. For my 650 gallon tub, I used less than ½ of a $14CDN bag of pool salt, and there are no foul odors as I had when I used Bromine with my Genesis Brominator.
I also wanted to bring you up to date on the performance of the Technichlor unit in my spa. I was initially alarmed by the fact that the strips that came with the unit did not show any chlorine production. However, when I used my test kit with drops, it showed a pH of 7.6 to 7.8 and chlorine of 2.5ppm. I was very happy with this.

We inherited some Baqua Spa chemicals from the previous owners of the hot tub we purchased. We decided to change to a salt-water system before we started using it, so we’re getting ready to put the salt in and set up the TechniClor. My question is, if we find we need to ’shock’ the water, can we use the leftover Baqua Spa Chemicals, or would we have to purchase some other type of ’shock’?
Never use Baqua Spa Chemicals with any chlorine or bromine generator. You can use a chlorine shock or a chlorine free shock, but not a Baquacil based product.

#1 – I truly can’t tell you how much I love your product! It’s fantastic! Mind you… my Monster-in-law refuses to believe how great it is, and won’t even talk to us anymore about hot tubs because she thinks that the chemicals are the way to go. Her loss! At least someone will keep the Chem companies working.
#2 – I have a few friends interested in the product. I am going to forward your site to them… that being said, I’m not able to find the HP Colorchlor on your website anymore. Are you still selling it? Or just the standard smaller one now??

Really… I go on and on and on to everyone about your product! I have quite a few people interested it in! Thanks so much for creating SUCH a well engineered product. Only thing I would change on it would to have a small display on it to tell you what power level you’re at, or what the temperature is… my husband is lost as to what all the lights mean.

I love this device and especially the company behind it. I really can’t recommend it enough… if you have a hot tub, you must have a colorchlor… and the team behind it has a clear commitment to customer service.

Wish the power cord was twice as long.. After 24hrs my 450 gal spa didn’t register any chlorine,, I added a bit of chlorine from a tip on another web site and has been great every since… Lately the standby mode seems to be on allot but the chlorine level stays good… My wife misses the smell of chlorine!
Not sure why they would supply a quart of CV700 with only 6 lbs (enough for a 400 gal spa) of salt combo. The instructions on the CV700 bottle talk about thousands of gallons, so I figure only about 1 cap for my spa.. Lets see how many caps in a quart ?, too much for me!

Good product and GREAT service. We love having it in our Spa, the water is softer, crystal clear, and always smells fresh, even if we don’t open it for a week or two.

Great product just put in the salt and you are good to go. I have had off for days at a time and see the spa start to look dirty and immediately as quickly as overnight the spa looks as if fresh water has been put in. Great device. Super easy to manage and much less expensive and better on your skin than the chemicals typically needed to maintain.

As one of the first ColorChlor customers, we have been using our ColorChlor chlorine generator in our hot tub for years. We can honestly say this product has vastly improved our hot tub. There is no need to purchase chemical chlorine or bromine. The ColorChlor electronically creates chlorine from sodium chloride (salt) NaCl which is very inexpensive. Not much salt is needed to maximize performance. The salt in the water is hardly noticable but it actually makes your skin feel smoother after using the hot tub. There is no chlorine smell at all. You can actually help the environment by not using chemical chlorine! The ColorChlor provides the correct amout of chlorine even when you are away on vacation! The company representatives at ControlOMatic have always been most helpful with any questions we have had through the years. We recommend this product and this company!

I purchased your ColorChlor chlorinator unit 1 month ago and want to share the results of my experience. Based on my experience so far:
•ColorChlor effectively maintains my spa in clear-water condition without any burdensome addition of sanitizers. No longer do I worry about the condition of my spa between uses because the product maintains a sufficient level of chlorine (hypochlorous acid) so my spa is ready when I am.
•I feel confident in ColorChlor because it continually generates chlorine over time, so free chlorine is always present, but levels stay low and stable. This maximizes sanitation and minimizes the risk of corrosion, present with any sanitizing system in spas.
•The one-time setup and ongoing use is simple: 8 pounds of salt one time from my local store (~$4) and plug-in ColorChlor to a standard outlet (weather protected). This took less than 1 hour. Now using it is as simple as Drop-and-Go!
Previously, I used chlorinating granules which required frequent and continual addition, whether I used my spa or not. I never minded adding this to my spa when I used it, but to have to add it when not using the spa felt like I was babysitting it. Plus, when I took trips for as little as a week, I had to take time to drain the spa or risk returning to a skunked, murky spa – yuck! Now, when I leave, I can trust ColorChlor to maintain my spa so its clear and clean when I return.
True, I still have to maintain pH and check the filter, but those change little when my spa is not in use. And for large parties (like my Memorial Day bash with 12 guests in/out of the spa all day), I need supplemental chlor (bleach) to offset extreme amounts of organic material. But since I am at the spa anyway – adding a cup of chlor occasionally is not inconvenient. It’s remembering to constantly add sanitizer that’s inconvenient – which I no longer need to do with ColorChlor.
And I should cut my water replacement frequency at least by half every year, because using ColorChlor does not accumulate compounds (stabilizers/cyanuric acid) found in sanitation tablets/granules that eventually lead to spa water that must be replaced because it cannot be cleared. Technically, my spa water should now be like my pool – and I never have had to change that water (6 years+).

This is a terrific product. As a spa owner for 14 years (two different hot tubs) I’ve used Ozone Generator, chemicals and other filtration solutions to simplify hot tub maintenance and reduce chem use and costs. This product is the read deal. I’ve been using Dead Sea Salts (bokek) with this product and it works great!
I never have an issue with checking levels or getting too much chemical or odors. Better still, the feeling after using the spa is amazing. Never have that “hot tub itch” and dry skin associated with bromine. Whether I’m home or away, this product is doing its job…and I use my spa A LOT!
Better still, they stand behind their products. When I have had performance issues or questions, they have always taken care me immediately, and have provided me with updated improvements to their products as they became available. The price might make some hesitate, but if you’ve owned and maintained a spa before, you know how often you’re running out spending $$$ on this chemical or that. Salt is cheap! Even the rarest fine Spa Quality sea salts…by comparison. And the time savings, alone, and hassle-free solution makes it worth every penny!!!

It works great. Thank you. It was always so frustrating to keep handling all the chemicals and adding chlorine all the time. Now all I do is use my test strips, set it and forget it. I don’t spend so much time on mainetenance anymore. Great product!!!!

This Chlorine generator really does work well. The water is always clear. I travel a lot and don’t have to worry about coming home to cloudy water that has to be shocked back to life. Also, the Ph seems to be more stable than with Diclor or the bleach method of sanitation. The salt also prevents some of the drying effect of hot water on your skin. Think of it as the security of a bromine floater without the supposed carcinogens /smell associated with bromine with the added benefit of a much more stable Ph.
I know people usually write to complain but I wanted to write you and tell you how much I love my Technichlor. I have been meaning to write you for weeks. I received my Technichlor in December and after set up and a little adjustment it has been months and the levels are perfect. All I do is top it off with water and enjoy.
I live in montreal ,canada and bought the TechniChlor in August 2010, its the best maintenance free product for spa`s. I use the spa year round and we have no more problems in keeping the water crystal clear. I should have converted to salt a long time ago, especially at the price this product sells for. With salt water, no skin problems and have not experienced premature rust as some sales rep may discourage. I ordered on the net and received within 2 weeks. thanks ControlOMatic.
Purchased my TechniClor 110 on EBay and not sure if it has been registered. Installed it last Saturday, May 14, 2011 and very satisfied with the results so far. Can’t believe how clear the water has been after a few days. Does feel better on the skin too. Have been using Baqua Spa since developing rashness on the skin with regular chlorine. Have been in the hot tub the past few nights and no itchy skin yet. As an Electronic Technician, the “Tap Technology” is new and different. It took a little bit of testing to get the right tap pressure but was relatively simple once you have gone through the different sequences. Working great. Should have looked into one of these sooner. I would recommend these units to others that have hot tubs as well. I have modified the comments below to include my thoughts as an Electronic Technician on the “Tap Technology”. I did have to tell the guys I work with about it and your instructions like the “Double-Tap” and as a former Army Special Ops person, thought that it was the same technique that did in Usama BinLaden, a “Double Tap”. Thought you might like that one, but no offense.

I just purchased my 1st hot tub recently and was wanting a salt generating chlorine system for all the obvious reasons and after shopping around I decided on your product. Wow, what a great decision! It is so easy to manage! I virtually set it for the amount of water in my spa and have never had to do anything since. Even going on vacation for a week and turning my temperature down didn’t alter it one bit, my water is always clean and ready to use when I want to. The Product
As a 20 year owner of many hot tubs, I had been using a variety of different chemical treatments and never found a satisfactory solution to reduce the maintenance frustration and make using the hot tub more trouble free. Exacerbating this frustration was the fact that we have two young granddaughters that could not use the hot tub due to skin conditions that the chemicals inflamed. Our granddaughters tried a salt water hot tub during a vacation and had no inflammation, so we immediately switched our hot tub from the bromide we were using to your ColorChlor chlorine generator, and our granddaughters were able to hot tub again with virtually no ill effects. Once the product was set up properly, maintenance was substantially reduced to a point that I would consider trouble free. As a side benefit, our chemical costs vertually disappeared. For these health and maintenance reduction reasons, we highly recommend your product.
The Customer Support
We purchased our ColorChlor chlorine generator in 2008, and it installed and worked perfectly for many months, then developed a blinking trouble code. Upon notifying ControlOMatic, they immediately sent a replacement upgraded product at no charge, with the objective of ensuring that out hot tub lost no usage time. This happened on several occasions as the product has been upgraded and redesigned over the years. We love the colorchlor chlorine generator we bought from controlomatic. It maintains the perfect level of chlorine in our 225 gallon spa. Prior to buying the colorchlor, I could not use the spa very often because the chemicals made my skin very dry and itchy and I would have to slather on a ton of skin cream every time I used the spa. With the colorchlor I have no dryness or itching at all, the water is always perfect. We use our spa almost every day in the fall winter in spring, too hot in the summer! The unit could not be easier to install, just plug it in to a standard outdoor outlet and drop it over the side of the tub. programming it is a snap and it has easily paid for itself by saving us $$ on chemicals; now we just buy salt. If you have a spa, you need to get one of these!
